Indestructible Hopie

We were at our buddies, the Cobbs, for a special birthday a little over a month ago when Hopie took a good spill. As Mamas we are use to spills but knew the sound of this one was serious. As I (Mama) picked Hopie up I couldn't see something was serious wrong with her arm. I thought it was dislocated. Later in the emergency room we find out she broke her humorous bone. We have since named this bone her "not-so-humorous" bone! Praise God for the on-call pediatric orthopedic surgeon. She had surgery and had pins placed in her arm & elbow. She was so brave. The nurses just got a kick out of her. At the follow up appointment with the surgeon, he didn't want to cast her arm while the pins were in it. OH MY!!! I begged the doctor, knowing he had no clue the activity level that is achieved daily in Hope's life. He got a glimpse of it at his office and opted to cast her, to Mama's delight. Hope's request was a purple cast, of course. It was amazing to see what Hopie could do with a cast on her entire right arm. She became quite proficient with left arm & hand. We made it 4 weeks with the same cast. I didn't think that would happen. Two days before her surgery to have the pins removed the cast got submerged in water. OH MAN the smell! A month of dirt, horse poop, and whatever else made it down there~it was bad. Well, she had surgery yesterday and did great. We covered her in prayer and praised God for seeing her through everything she had been through in the past month. He is so faithful. The LORD keeps a good eye on Hope. We praise Him for being Jehovah-rapha (The LORD who heals).
