All Boy

People had always told me how very different boys are from girls. I only had girls so I took their word for it. Well now I understand that boys are VERY different from girls from my own experience. Luke is so much more physical then the girls ever were. He also gives the best bear hugs. Without anyone showing him, he turned sticks into guns (noises & all) and chased the girls around the yard. And TRAINS, oh my, he can hear or spot one from a mile away! He gets the whole family excited from his excitement when he hears one of them. Here are a few shots of my boy being ALL boy!

Luke attacking a bush with his light saber
~ "Luke, I am your father"!

Luke trying to attack Mama ~ aaaahhhhhh!!!!!!

He loves any sort of ball. By the way, he is a lefty Mom!

He loves playing with Sawyer & Michaela, our neighbors.

Sportin' ( or should we say hammin' up) his big boy haircut!

Best for last ~ Luke Frost!

P.S.
Luke decided to do this stunt this morning (3/6/09). He has climbed his bookcase in front of his window in search of his Papa who is outside! Such a boy!!!!

Pizza Nights

As we have previously posted, Friday nights are "Pizza Nights" at the Abshire home. We all look forward to Fridays and some GOOD pizza. To update you on our adventures, you already know that we have found the perfect crust. We tried the pear & gorgonzola but wanted something different. Then it dawned on us to do our favorites from when Aaron & Liz had a pizza parlor in their early married years. So we have enjoyed barbeque chicken pizza and the incredible BLT pizza ~ oh man! These are some great memories. Papa is starting to toss the pizzas, just like he use to. Mama comes in behind him and cleans up all the flour off the floor & counters, just like she use to! :) We have also noticed the children like to invite their friends over on Fridays to join the fun.
Things are heating up around here!
Maybe we will start taking orders!!!

The girls & a friend making their own pizzas!
Papa havin' a blast!

Moving Fun

We had some friends (The Churchmans) recently move into their beautiful new home. Luke & Mama went to help them get settled into their new home. Mama & Kristeen worked on unpacking the kitchen. To the boys delight, we left all the paper on the floor for a little bit. They had a blast. The squeals and excitement were fabulous. This time is precious.
The boys going wild with the newspaper!
Luke & Stone hammin' it up!

Spring is on the way

The signs of life are blooming everywhere in our area. The rain brings clean air to enjoy, for a little while. The almond trees are blooming and beautiful. Another sign of spring for us is our neighbors tulip tree that blooms for maybe two weeks of the whole year then it is gone. We have learned to get the picture then or it will be gone. So here our the children with that beautiful, great climbing tree.

Just Not Right

Big sisters have a funny sense of humor that they will probably pay for some day. I picture that one day they will try to pull a stunt like this and will meet tough opposition from Brother.
Yes that day is coming!
Here sisters thought he should be the fairy! That's just not right!

Best Buds

Poor Luke misses his sisters when they aren't home to play with. His best bid is our family dog Bentley. They do have a lot of fun together. I will look out the back window and find them playing tug of war or chasing one another. Bentley is one of Luke's best friends.

Today I found them in the dog crate AGAIN. It will be a sad day when they both don't fit in there.

The Sabbath

This morning as everyone was getting ready for church, I asked Abbie if she had made her bed yet. Her response to me (in her most matter-of-fact-voice) was, "Mama, I am not making my bed today. It is the Sabbath!" How very selective we are, aren't we?!? I quickly reminder her who the Mama was and "Children obey your parents, that it might go well with you"! After we exchanged smirks and giggles she headed off to make that bed! She cracks me up!

Happy Birthday & Valentine's Day

Liz & Melissa (the Birthday Girl)
Yesterday day was both Valentine's Day and my girlfriend Melissa's birthday. We spent the day celebrating!!! Papa fixed his family some fabulous breakfast. Then we went with Melissa & her family to celebrate her birthday. We jumped into a converted bus with 6 adults and 12 children and headed an hour north. Some of her family were celebrating several events, one of which was her birthday. They roasted a couple of pigs and had a huge dinner. Poor Melissa didn't feel well and Travis was sick the whole time we were there but overall everyone had a great time visiting and celebrating life!
Here are some fun pictures of our adventures.

Hopie in the back window of the bus.
What a way to travel!

Rainy Day Activities

Lately we have had some rain, which we could sure use. The children have found some fun activities to do while it is raining.

Luke likes to wear Mama's boots when she isn't wearing them.

The girls have enjoyed playing in the rain.

Papa makes for a great jungle gym!

Evening of fun

The Alberts & the Abshires get together for supper whenever we can. For the sake of the children at play and for the enjoyment of adult friendship! We each have three children which lends for much noise when we get together. Especially since five of the people are Abshires!!!!! Anyway.....
Chris caught a couple children in action on his camera.

Luke looks WAY too big!!!!!!
He caught playing on the computer.
Abbie & Lexi playing dress up with the CAT!
Yes, that is a real cat!

The Word

I have always identified with Acts 4:13.

Acts 4:13 Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus.

I always identified with the "uneducated & untrained part" but my desire is that I would be identified or "recognized as having been with Jesus". It is my heart's cry is to have more of Him and less of me.

Buddies at Play

With a ton of toys to play with,
what brings the most fun of the evening.......
a buddy to play with in the dog kennel!

Elijah & Luke in Bentley's kennel

They were having a blast!

What's Wrong With This Picture?

Sisters have a twisted sense of humor.
Luke will someday be bigger than them
and won't put up with this kind of stuff!
